The Dominica Athletics Association (DAA) National Junior Championships, held on Sunday 17th May 2026 at Benjamin’s Park in Portsmouth, once again showcased the incredible future of athletics in Dominica — and Pioneers Athletics Club proudly stood among the island’s top-performing clubs.


From explosive sprint performances to powerful throws, disciplined middle-distance races, and strong relay teamwork, Pioneers athletes demonstrated talent, determination, and tremendous growth across multiple age categories.

🔥 Keyoni Esprit Dominates the U18 Division

One of the brightest stars of the entire meet was Pioneers’ own Keyoni Esprit, who delivered a sensational triple victory in the U18 boys’ sprint events.

🥇 1st Place — U18 Boys 100m — 10.60
🥇 1st Place — U18 Boys 200m — 22.30
🥇 1st Place — U18 Boys 400m — 52.50

Keyoni’s performances confirmed him as one of Dominica’s premier young sprinters.  

🏃‍♂️ Curvin Leatham Leads the Distance Squad

Pioneers AC also excelled in long-distance racing thanks to the outstanding performances of Curvin Leatham.

Curvin showed tremendous endurance and race management throughout the championship.

⚡ Akiesha Luke Impresses in U20 Women

Pioneers athlete Akiesha Luke delivered two excellent victories in the women’s U20 category.
